Like many of us, I’ve always wanted to feel fit, active, and energetic throughout the day. But let’s be honest—just wanting something doesn’t make it happen. And I was caught in that same loop:
“I’ll start from tomorrow… from Monday… from the 1st of next month… or maybe from January 1st.”
Let’s face it—that “perfect start day” never comes. ๐
๐ The Turning Point
One usual day while randomly scrolling YouTube for weight loss shortcuts or magical diets, I stumbled upon a video. The girl in the video spoke so genuinely and confidently about her transformation and credited Rujuta Diwekar’s book “Don’t Lose Your Mind, Lose Your Weight.”
I got curious, ordered the book, and started reading it slowly. To my surprise, the more I read, the more I got hooked. It wasn’t just another diet fad—it was common-sense nutrition, deeply rooted in our Indian culture. No crash diets, no fasting, and no calorie counting—just practical advice that made total sense.
๐ The Book That Changed My Mindset
As I completed the book, I began applying the principles in my daily routine. And guess what? It was the lockdown period during COVID, so I had ample time to focus on myself, my habits, and my food.
Within just 1.5 months, the results were visible—not only to me but to everyone around me.
People started asking:
“Are you doing something different?”
“Kya baat hai! You're glowing these days!”
“Facial karwaya hai kya?” ๐
But it wasn’t about just losing weight—it was about how plump and radiant my face looked, how my energy levels skyrocketed, how all my jeans started fitting perfectly, and most importantly, how I felt active all day long.
๐ง Rujuta Diwekar’s Fitness Philosophy That Worked for Me
Let me clarify—there are no shortcuts when it comes to getting fit. You need to work smart and stay consistent. These are the key habits I adopted from the book that truly transformed my lifestyle:
✅ My Daily Habits That Helped Me Get Fitter
Eat within 30 minutes of waking up
➤ Not tea or biscuits—have a seasonal fruit or soaked dry fruits.Have a heavy, wholesome breakfast
➤ Based on your culture—idli, dosa, upma, poha, roti-sabzi, paratha, chilla, etc.Eat 7 small meals a day
➤ 3 big meals + 4 small ones. This keeps your energy stable.Avoid all packaged and processed foods
➤ As Rujuta says: "Jitna packet khulega, utna pet fulega!" ๐Eat more when you are active, and less when you are not
Finish your last meal at least 2 hours before sleeping
Prioritize quality sleep
➤ Create a gadget-free bedroom and no distractions while sleeping.Eat with full awareness
➤ At least 2 meals a day in silence, sitting cross-legged, with your hands—no TV or phone.Include 2–3 local, seasonal fruits daily
Don’t force-feed—eat according to your taste buds
Exercise 4–6 hours a week
➤ Anything you enjoy: yoga, Zumba, cardio, walking, gym, or dance.Maintain happy and healthy relationships
➤ Stress also plays a role in weight gain—stay mentally happy too!Trust the process—be consistent
➤ You won’t see results overnight. But with time, they’ll surely come.
๐️♀️ My Fitness Routine at Home
Since gyms were closed during the lockdown, I followed free YouTube workout videos at home. (I’ll soon share the links in another post—stay tuned!) The key was to stay regular and not overdo it.
๐ Bonus Result: I Looked and Felt Beautiful on My Engagement & Wedding!
Though I never started with the aim of weight loss for my wedding, the natural changes made me look my best self during my ring ceremony and marriage. And honestly, that glow wasn’t from makeup—it was from inside. ✨
๐ฌ Final Thoughts
If you're tired of overthinking, procrastinating, or feeling stuck—start today. Read something that inspires you, make small daily changes, and trust your body.
This journey is not just about how you look—it's about how energized, happy, and alive you feel.
