How I Naturally Managed My Thyroid: My Real-Life Journey & Tips

๐ŸŒฟ How I Took Control of My Thyroid Naturally

Hello beautiful souls ๐Ÿ’š

I want to share something very personal today—my journey with thyroid. It wasn’t easy, but it taught me that with the right lifestyle, mindset, and self-love, even a lifelong health condition can be managed beautifully. ✨

๐Ÿ’” When It All Started

Back in 2018, I was hospitalized due to a severe food poisoning episode. I was on glucose drips, my hormones got disturbed, and during those random tests, doctors found my thyroid levels to be very high.

At first, I didn’t take it seriously. After recovering, I stopped worrying about thyroid and even quit my pills. But soon, I started feeling:

  • ๐Ÿ˜ด Drowsiness all day

  • ๐Ÿ˜ก Mood swings

  • ⚖️ Unexplained weight gain

When I went for a thyroid profile again, the reports showed hypothyroidism. From that moment, I started blaming every single thing—fatigue, laziness, irritation—on my thyroid gland. Honestly, I felt heartbroken ๐Ÿ’” and even ashamed to talk about it at such a young age.

๐ŸŒŸ My Turning Point

One day while scrolling through weight-loss videos, I stumbled upon a YouTuber recommending a book:
“Don’t Lose Your Mind, Lose Your Weight” by Rujuta Diwekar ๐Ÿ“–

That book changed my life!

For the first time, I realized:

  • ๐ŸŒ™ Sleep matters.

  • ๐Ÿฅ— What and how I eat matters.

  • ๐Ÿง˜‍♀️ My thoughts and activity levels matter.

Slowly, a miracle started happening. I began enjoying life again, loving myself, and living with enthusiasm.

Of course, my endocrinologist told me that thyroid medicines are a lifelong thing. And yes, they’re important initially. But deep down, I didn’t want to depend on pills forever. That’s when I started making consistent lifestyle changes. ๐ŸŒฟ

๐Ÿฅฆ My Diet & Food Choices

Yes, diet plays a big role in how your thyroid functions. Most guides say to avoid soy, cruciferous veggies, peanuts, etc. But I discovered that it’s not always about quitting, but about how you consume them.

๐Ÿ‘‰ For example, we Indians don’t eat raw cauliflower—we cook it into sabji. Cooking (boiling, steaming, frying) reduces its negative impact and makes it easier to digest.

What worked for me:

  • ๐Ÿ› Mostly home-cooked meals with desi tadkas

  • ๐Ÿฅฌ Seasonal, fresh food (mindful eating)

  • ๐Ÿฉ Yes, I do enjoy cheat days too—because balance is key!

๐Ÿ•ฐ️ My Daily Routine Changes

Here are the lifestyle shifts that truly helped:

  • ๐ŸŒ™ Sleep on time, wake up early – game changer for hormones

  • ๐Ÿง˜‍♀️ Yoga postures like cobra pose, camel pose, sarvangasan, bhujangasan

  • ๐ŸŒž Morning sun gazing & barefoot walking on grass (5–10 mins)

  • ๐Ÿ’ง Drinking lots of water

  • ๐ŸŒณ Spending mindful time with nature

  • ๐Ÿ’š Practicing positivity and gratitude daily

At first, I continued with the doctor’s prescribed dose (very important!). With regular tests and care, I gradually reduced it. Remember: never quit medicines suddenly—always consult your doctor.

๐ŸŒผ Simple & Actionable Tips for You

Here are a few things you can try starting today:

  1. ๐ŸŒฟ Coriander water – Soak 1 tbsp coriander seeds overnight, boil in the morning till half remains, sip slowly.

  2. ๐Ÿฅฅ Gentle neck massage – Massage thyroid area lightly with walnut or coconut oil.

  3. ๐Ÿง˜‍♀️ Yoga – Cobra, camel, sarvangasan, bhujangasan (start slow, listen to your body).

  4. ๐Ÿฒ Eat wholesome, seasonal, freshly cooked food.

  5. ๐Ÿ’ƒ Do what you love – dancing, gardening, singing, Zumba, gym… anything that makes you happy.

๐Ÿ’• My Message to You

Taking care of thyroid is not as scary as it seems. Trust me, if we can take care of our families with so much love, why not treat ourselves as the priority? ๐ŸŒธ

Be gentle with your body, pamper it, respect it, and stay positive. Thyroid is just a part of your life, not your whole identity.

✨ Over to you:

  • Do you also have thyroid?

  • What’s your current TSH level?
